Villa del Carbón is recognized as Tree City of the World

The city council of Villa del Carbón was recognized as Tree City of the World 2021. Additionally, as part of the celebration of World Tree Day, the civil association Reforestamos México and the municipality of Villa del Carbón sign a collaboration agreement to carry out actions in favor of the forests.
The city council of Villa del Carbón was recognized as Tree City of the World 2021 for its actions in favor of the forests that are part of that municipality in the State of Mexico. In addition, as part of the celebrations for World Tree Day, Villa del Carbón reaffirms its commitment to the care and conservation of the environment through the signing of a collaboration agreement with the civil association Reforestamos México, whose mission is to ensure more and better forests to promote sustainable development.
Lic. Andri Guadalupe Correa Rodríguez, www.reforestamosmexico.org, received the distinction of Tree City of the World 2021 as the head of the City Council, recognizing their efforts in the protection, conservation, and increase of urban tree coverage.
The conservation of forests requires the joint work of various sectors of society, which is why the signing of this collaboration agreement is of great relevance for the assurance of environmental goods and services that forests provide to this particular region in the State of Mexico.
Reforestamos México and the City Council of Villa del Carbón will work together on specific actions in favor of the forests, including actions that lead to the governance, legality, and transparency of urban forests, community forest business development, production and development of species for reforestation, strengthening capacities for monitoring and management of trees, culture and environmental education oriented towards sustainability, training, and technical assistance, among others.
The Tree City of the World distinction is a way to recognize the efforts of cities through compliance with five standards: having authority in the matter, regulations ensuring the protection, conservation, and increase of urban tree coverage, information on urban tree coverage and green areas, budget allocated for the management and increase of urban tree coverage, and celebration of trees.
