Join the Izta Challenge 2024!
8 febrero, 2024
In 2023, Jorge León de la Barra, passionate about nature and sports, in alliance with Reforestamos México, carried out the first edition of the Izta Challenge, a challenge that in addition to promoting sports, also had the objective of raising funds for reforestation.
This challenge united several people who made a journey of approximately 100 km, from Mexico City to the summit of Iztaccihuatl, starting the journey by bicycle and once near the top, concluding it on foot; and that would culminate months later with an open call on social networks for donations to reach the goal of reforestation.
The goal for 2023 was to plant 100 trees, but thanks to the interest generated by this great challenge, the goal was surpassed! At the end of the first edition of the Izta Challenge, 455 trees were planted on the slopes of Izta-Popo, in San Martin Cuautlalpan, State of Mexico, which is a Natural Protected Area, thus contributing to the restoration of this beautiful forest.
Due to the great success of the challenge, the alliance with Jorge León de la Barra continues and strengthens to carry out a second edition of the Izta Challenge, which will take place on March 1 and 2, 2024. This year’s goal is to raise the necessary funds to plant 2,000 trees.
What does the challenge consist of?
The challenge consists of 125 km with more than 3000 m of elevation gain. The challenge is divided into three stages, which will take place over two days:
- Trail running
You can be part of the challenge! We invite you to make a donation (deductible) that will add up to the number of trees to be planted and thus, together we will reach the goal. The Izta Challenge 2024 is a challenge where we can all add up.
*You can request a deductible receipt at the end of your donation, or by sending an email to email@example.com attaching your tax receipt of the month and your proof of payment.

With this type of alliance we can ensure more and better forests, generating temporary employment for the people who make up the community forestry brigade in the area where we will work, which is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the trees planted for the following two years, and thus increase their chances of survival.
