Aeromexico joins forces with forests this year: 4,200 trees planted for forest restoration
28 diciembre, 2023
In a continued effort to contribute to environmental preservation, Aeromexico has joined our forest allies by adopting 6 hectares for restoration actions in the San Martin Cuautlalpan ejido. This agrarian nucleus is located in the vicinity of the Iztaccihuatl-Popocatepetl National Park, in the State of Mexico, specifically in its northwest part, within the buffer zone of the Protected Natural Area.
Thanks to their collaboration, a total of 4,200 Pinus Montezumae trees, native to the region and playing a crucial role in local biodiversity and overall ecosystem health, have been planted.
This initiative saw the participation of 373 volunteers, who dedicated their time and effort to carry out the reforestation activity. The collaboration between Reforestamos México, the community, and Aeromexico highlights the importance of collective action in the fight against deforestation and biodiversity conservation.
The pine trees planted this year will be monitored for the next two years, with maintenance actions carried out by the community forest brigade. This aims to significantly increase the survival rate of the planted species.
In addition to the environmental benefits, this initiative also has a significant social impact, as reforestation activities create temporary employment opportunities for forest inhabitants. These community forest brigades are responsible for follow-up and maintenance actions on the adopted hectares.
This project not only demonstrates Aeromexico’s commitment to environmental sustainability but also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between sectors to address environmental challenges. We hope that this effort inspires other companies to follow suit and work together in building a greener and more sustainable future.
